A delegation of the BJP State Krushak Morcha led by its president Maheswar Sahu on Wednesday met Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh and his deputy Sanjay Kumar Balia in New Delhi and submitted a draft proposal about the prevailing drought and farmer suicide cases in the State.
The team apprised the Ministers that around 160 farmers have committed suicide in the State in last three months while 215 blocks of 26 districts out of the total 30 districts are drought-affected.
Urging the Ministers to release assistance at the earliest, the team leader drew the attention of the Ministers to the fact of misutilisation of Central funds by the State Government.
Morcha vice-president Ramachandra Patro, Sameer Patro, State secretary Rabi Narayan Mohapatra and Sanjeev Kumar Rana were present, among others.
