BJP holds Ganatantra Bachao Yatra in Bijepur

PNS

The BJP on Tuesday launched a two-day Ganatantra Banchao Padyatra from Bijepur on Tuesday, alleging that due to the inept BJD Government, the democratic system in the State has collapsed.

Party State president Basant Panda and former president KV Singh Deo alleged that the BJD is making futile attempts to suppress its political rivals by the police and the administrative machinery.

The leaders alleged that the law and order situation in Bijepur has worsened and people of the constituency are living in fear. They also alleged that there has been no development in the area in the 18 years tenure of the ruling BJD Government. The party leaders also condemned the non- allocation of funds for the Gangadhar Meher water project.

Panda said the State Government should order a CBI inquiry to unearth the conspiracy behind the firing on its youth leader Manoranjan Meher’s house in Pada village.  Singh Deo urged the people of the constituency not to be terrified as the BJP would stand behind them. Among others, MlAs Pradeep Purohit, Radharani Panda, spokesperson Golak Bihari Mohapatra , party’s youth wing president Tankadhar Tripathy and many other leaders were present.

However, in reaction to the BJP allegation of destruction of democratic institutions, leader of Opposition Narsingha Mishra of the Congress said it is just like ‘Chor Machaye Shor’. It is unfortunate that a party which has attacked all Constitutional bodies in the country is making these allegations.

BJD spokesperson Samir Dash said the BJP should wait patiently for the Bijepur by-poll results. The people would decide what the reality is, he added.
