Alleging rampant irregularities and corruption in Rohila gram panchayat in execution of schemes, the BJP here gheraoed the GP office on Thursday. The party charged that irregularities were committed in PMAY, MGNREGS, CFC and SFC. Real beneficiaries and job card holders were deprived of benefits, they said. Under leadership of State BJP member Ashok Mohanty, more than 500 BJP workers of Rohila GP came to the GP office and held demonstration infront of office. The agitators pointing fingers at the BJD functionaries, raising slogans and alleging that the people with BJD affiliation were mostly the beneficiaries despite not having the eligibility. Soon, BJD supporters opposed them leading to a faceoff between the BJP and BJD supporters.
Being informed, Khamar IIC Gyanaranjan Samal along with staff and BDO Pallahara Suman Minj rushed to spot and took the situation under control. The BJP submitted a memorandum constiting of 15 charges and seeking needful action immediately. BJP leaders Lingaraj Das, Gaurahari Pradhan, ZP member Saroj Sahoo, Panchanana Sahoo and district woman cell secretary Ranjita Nath were present.
