The BJP on Monday demanded immediate arrest of School and Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda in connection with the incident of stabbing close relatives of Congress candidate for Jeypore Assembly seat Tara Prasad Bahinipati at Jeypore late on April 10 night.
In a Press release, BJP State secretary Bhrigu Baxipatra alleged that Nanda, his son and other district level leaders of the BJD violated the model code of conduct for polls by committing election-related violence and other criminal offences on the day of the polling. The EC should take it seriously and direct the Odisha Police to arrest the Minister, he said.
Baxipatra demanded that the police take immediate action after considering Bahinipati’s FIR which includes the Minister’s name. The BJP leader also demanded CM Naveen Patnaik order for arrest of Nanda after expelling from his Cabinet.
