The BJP on Sunday condemned the inhuman attack on the ABVP leader and Anandpur College Students’ Union president Sipun Das and demanded that the culprits, who are reportedly BJD student leaders, be arrested soon and Das’ medical expenses be borne by the Government. “BJP strongly condemns attack on Sipun Das. Jealous over the BJP’s growing popularity, BJD leaders are now following Congress leaders’ old formulae and attacking BJP student leaders in order to suppress them,” alleged BJP Spokes person Sameer Mohanty.
Stating that Minister Badrinarayan Patra’s close aide and Biju Chhatra Janata State secretary had attacked Das on January 15, Mohanty alleged that police are taking any action against the attacker at the behest of the Minister. Students of the college have been staging road blockades and boycotting classed for last two days, he informed.
A team of BJP leaders comprising Sajjan Sharma, Binod Das, Nayan Kishore Mohanty, Sikandar Ali, Swapneswar Das and youth leader Akhila Biswal under the leadership of Ghasipur leader Satyabrata Panda met Das at the SCB Medical College Hospital.
