BJP State-in-charge and national co-in-charge of membership drive Arun Singh briefing the mediapersons here on Monday announced that his party has crossed 10-lakh membership mark in the State. Singh said they would achieve the 40-lakh membership mark in the State by March 31 this year. “As the party is celebrating Sangathan Parva this year, we hope the party will hit the target within deadline,” he added.

He said that around 70 leaders of BJD have given missed calls to join BJP. “I’ll reveal the names of the BJD leaders very soon,” he added.  The BJP leader said they would train prabhari (in-charge) and saha prabhari (co in-charge) of 445 blocks of the party in the State for speeding up of membership drive in block level. ‘Booth Chalo, Sadasya Banao’ campaign would be kicked off in a meeting of block-level in-charges and co in-charges of membership drive at the party office on Tuesday, he added.

“We will create our members in every booth through the campaign,” said Singh. He then criticised the rulling BJD workers for attacking BJP workers in the State after Amit Shah’s rally on January 6. He alleged that the frustrated BJD workers killed a BJP supporter’s wife for attending BJP rally.

Singh also criticised the BJD leaders for using goons to attack on BJP’s student leaders like Utkal University’s president candidate Manas Das, Anandpur College Union leader Sipun Das and ABVP leader Hemaranjan Barik of Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district. “Though our party has lodged FIR against the culprits, the police are not taking any steps fearing rulling party’s ire,” said Singh and added that the party would corner the State Government and take the movement to a logical  conclusion.
