The BJP on Thursday cried foul over erratic enumeration of voters for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections due in December this year and alleged that the ruling BJD is doing all this to win the BMC polls again.
During the process of inclusion of new voters it was found that many undeserving voters from adjacent rural areas were included due to interference of BJD leaders in order to facilitate the party’s victory. “So far, the authorities are yet to publish the final voters’ list and deferred the process of preparing it in the name of delimitation of wards in the BMC. While the corporation elections are to be held in December, it is very urgent to publish the voters’ list, failing which nearly 50 per cent genuine urban voters will be deprived of exercising their right of franchise,” alleged BJP urban cell in-charge Dillip Mohanty. “Despite our repeated appeals to the State Election Commission in this regard, nothing positive has happened as yet,” he rued.
