The BJP on Sunday said it would launch a massive public movement in villages against the alleged hijacking of Central funds by the State Government and non-implementation of the welfare schemes of the Narendra Modi Government in the State.
The party took the decision at a high-level meeting held here under the chairmanship of State president Basant Panda and attended by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, national joint general secretary (organisation) Soudan Singh, legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo and State-level office bearers.
“A decision was taken to sensitise villagers in rural Odisha about how the State Government is diverting Central funds and corruption activities are going on in the State,” former Pratap Sarangi told reporters after the meeting.
He said party workers would also inform people how the State Government is opposing the Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission against people’s interest.
He alleged that the State Government has failed to utilise even five per cent of funds coming under the Pandit Deendayal Gram Jyoti Yojana and the Soubhagya Yojana. He wanted to know from which source the State Government made a list to include 34 lakh beneficiaries in the State food security scheme. “The State food security scheme is meant to appease ruling party workers ahead of elections,” he alleged. He said attempts would be made to drive away the ‘corrupt’ State Government in the coming general election so that development can be effected in the State.
