The BJD refuted the BJP’s allegation that the Gangadhar Meher Mega lift Irrigation Project for Bijapur is merely an election propaganda as no allocations made in the Supplementary Budget.
“Initial works have started at the Government level. The project can be taken up under funds allocated for the Mega lift Irrigation in the Annual Budget. The BJP’s allegation is baseless,” said Minister Pratap Jena in a statement. He said BJP leaders have no knowledge on Budget allocations.
On the saffron party’s allegation on NAC, Jena said, “When a town is proposed to become a NAC, no funds is immediately needed. The concerned department is able to meet the funds required for the work,”
He said the BJP is trying to convert non-issues into issues and would never succeed in its mission. “The BJP Government at the Centre has the practice of announcing projects to hoodwink people. There are many examples,” he said, adding that there is no example of any discrepancy between announcement and implementation of projects during the 17 years’ rule of the Naveen Patnaik Government.
