Terming the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) as a “Below Poverty line (BPl) party”, the BJP State unit announced on Monday a roadmap to reach out to the marginalised as well as rural and farm communities ahead of the panchayat polls scheduled in the first part of 2017.
“The State Government has failed on all fronts. The status of farmers and marginalised sections are beyond imagination. We have chalked out various future programmes in our recently concluded State executive body meeting and will reach out to every section of the marginalised society,” party president Basanta Panda told reporters here.
Party general secretary Prithiviraj Harichandan said the party would start its State-wide programmes from April 6.
“From the birth anniversary of the Constitution’s architect Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on April 14 to 16, our leaders and party cadres will hold social harmony programmes at panchayat level as part of party’s nation-wide programme. During the period, they will convey the messages of Dr Ambedkar to the people,” he said.
He said that for 10 days from April 14, the party would have programmes under the aegis of Gram Uday to Bharat Uday.
From April 17 to April 20, there would be farmers’ meetings in all villages across the State.
The party would also focus on nationalism and Central assistances to the State during the programmes.
