As part of the BJP’s State-wide agitation over the failures of the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government, the party activists of the Bhadrak unit turned violent and ransacked the District Collector’s office.
Shouting anti-Government slogans, the agitators destroyed several properties, including furniture and documents. Besides, the party staged demonstrations in front all the 314 block offices in the State protesting irregularities in implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), malnutrition deaths and delay in distribution of input subsidy to drought-hit farmers.
“Though Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is introducing various schemes and programmes for the welfare of women, farmers and children, the NFSA irregularities and malnutrition deaths reveal the ground realities. He has belied the faith of four crore people,” said party president Basanta Panda.
While farmers are committing suicide, children are dying due to malnutrition, the Government has not taken any remarkable steps in this regard, Panda alleged.
He also said the agitation would be intensified in coming days if the Government does not take any step to sort out the issues in a proactive manner.
