Claiming that it has already enrolled 11 lakh members into the party fold in its first phase membership drive in the State, the BJP on Wednesday will launch the second phase drive from Thursday. The party will launch its weeklong second phase membership drive in the State from Thursday which will conclude on February 1, the death anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, one of the most important leaders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
“We have already enroled 11 lakh members and will achieve the ambitious 40 lakh members by the end of March 31 this year,” senior party leader Bijay Mohapatra told medipaersons here. The party’s State in-charge Arun Singh and national joint secretary (Organisation) Shiv Prakash will participate during the week long membership drive, added Mohapatra. Mohapatra said after the week long second phase membership drive concludes on February 11, the party will hold reviews of the drive at Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jharsuguda and Brahmapur on February 12 and 13.
