BJD ultimatum to Modi Govt: ‘Reduce gas price by Nov 30 or face protest’

PNS

After its three-day State-wide protest against the spiralling prices of cooking gas and other essential commodities, the BJD on Thursday  warned the Centre to reduce the prices of LPG by November 30 or the BJD would continue its tirade against the Modi-led BJP Government.

Party MLAs Byomkesh Ray, Pranav Balabantray and Devi Ranjan Tripathy said that when the Modi Government came to power in 2014, a gas cylinder’s cost was Rs 414, but during the last seven years it has doubled to Rs 930.

They stated that while people are already suffering from the Covid impact, the sharp rise in prices of petroleum products and essential commodities have become an additional burden for them.

State BJP leaders are making peculiar statements citing the international crude oil price though it is at an all-time low now, they said.

“The so-called Ujjwala story is completely a failed programme. Only statistical presentations would not serve; you have to see the ground reality,” they added.
