With the general elections now anytime amid political uncertainty at the Centre, Odisha’s ruling BJD has started preparing its advance strategy to face the polls.

The party’s youth wing Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) on Sunday announced that it would hold a State-level Yuva Samabesh on April 7 in Bhubaneswar to announce its roadmap for the next one year.

After the extended executive meeting of the BYJD, its president and Deputy Government Chief Whip in Assembly Sanjay Dasburma told reporters that the youth convention would highlight the “constant neglect of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre towards Odisha”.

He said the BYJD executive also decided how to help cooperate with the State Government in successful implementation of its 27 flagship developmental projects launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and take the fruits of the programmes to the targeted masses.

The executive body, he said, also adopted a censure motion against the UPA Government for its dilatory tactics towards the demand for Special Category State status to Odisha and denial of funds to it for developmental projects.

The BYJD also passed a resolution to launch agitation against the Union Government for its decision to disinvest shares in the Nalco.

Dasburma said the BYJD would submit comprehensive proposals to the State Government to include its objectives in the proposed Odisha Youth Policy-2013. A draft committee would finalise the proposals in next two days. The BYJD would demand empowerment of the youth with technical education, more jobs in the agriculture and industrial sectors and checking the drift of youth in tribal areas towards the Maoist movement. He said the BYJD would also urge the party leadership to give more importance to the youth in the municipal and general elections.
