BJD to hold two farmers' rallies ahead of Modi's

PNS

The war between the BJD and the BJP is likely to intensify further with the former deciding to hold Chasi Samaveshs (farmers’ conventions) in Kalahandi and Bargarh districts on February 18 three days before the scheduled farmers’ rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bargarh. BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would address the farmers.

“We will make people aware about the welfare schemes being undertaken by our Government for betterment of farmers’ community. It is our prime duty to reach out to people,” said BJD spokesperson Sameer Ranjan Das.

Notably, the BJP had earlier announced to organise a huge farmers’ convention in drought-hit Bargarh district on February 21 to be addressed by the Prime Minister.

The saffron party has already started preparations to make the rally a big success. The rally would be held at the Circus ground near Bhatli Square. “We expect a gathering of five lakh people, including farmers and party workers. The Prime Minister will address and interact with farmers,” said BJP State president Panda.

Meanwhile, a team of BJP leaders led by Panda and party State in-charge Arun Singh visited the venue and held a preparatory meeting in Bargarh.
