BJD staging drama on Polavaram, says Cong

PNS

The Congress on Thursday took a potshot at the BJD over the Polavaram project issue alleging that the ruling party staged a drama by calling a hartal in undivided Koraput district instead of raising voice in proper forums strongly.

“Till date, the State Government has no proper data on the possible impacts of the Polavaram project in the State. The Government has also failed to keep its clear view before the Central Technical Committee. More so, even after taking money from the Andhra Pradesh Government, the Odisha Governemnt has not organised Palli Sabhas in the affected areas,” charged Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prasad Harichandan at a news conference here.

Harichandan said the BJD’s anti-Centre stand on the Polavaram project is just eyewash as Union Minister Jual Oram had already exposed the secret pact between Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJD is just trying to divert the attention of the public from ration card scam and farmers’ suicide issue and trying to revive its image, he said.

The PCC chief also demanded a decrease in the height of the proposed Polavaram dam and at the same time cautioned the Odisha Government about the possible impacts of the project.
