Sambalpur MP Nagendra Pradhan and MlA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi condemned a padayatra by the BJP for allotment of permanent land patta to the residents of Burla township under the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation. Both the MP and the MlA clarified that the Chief Minister and the Revenue Department have taken adequate step for this purpose.
“An ordinance has been passed in the State Cabinet in this regard by virtue of which landless people living in urban areas will get 300, 450 and 600 square feet of land in Municipal Corporation, Municipality and NAC area respectively.
Hence, people of Burla are sure to get land rights very soon and the State Government is very keen to complete the process and give them the land rights,” MlA Dr Panigrahi said.
“Making elderly persons of more than 60 years walk a distance of 15 km on false promise of land patta is nothing but meting out torture to them,” Dr Panigrahi said further. “When concrete decision has already been taken to provide land to the landless people all over the State and Burla, Hirakud and Sambalpur in particular, since many people are staying here in Government land after construction of the Hirakud dam project, the padayatra of the BJP from Burla to Sambalpur is nothing but a high drama,” said MP Pradhan.
The BJP wants to take credit for things that it was unable to do. A BJP MlA was representing Sambalpur for 15 years and the Municipality had a BJP Chairman for 10 years, but they could do nothing for the landless,” Pradhan and Panigrahi blamed.
looking at the step taken by the State Government for allocation of land to the urban homeless, the BJP wants to take false credit, they alleged further.
It needs to be mentioned here that BJP recently had organized a padayatra from Burla to Sambalpur for allocation permanent land patta to the landless people of the town.
