BJD member Amar Prasad Satpathy said a resolution should be passed to thank farmers for whose effort the State has achieved the award consecutively out of four awards. “Development has occurred not only in the agricultural output but also in the irrigation and animal resources sector. It is a matter of pride that the State has been awarded with the Krushi Karman Award for three times for which farmers deserve to be tbanked,” Satpathy said, requesting the Speaker to allow to bringing a resolution for the purpose.
Other ruling members, including Anant Das, Prafulla Samal, RC Chayu Patnaik, Dibya Shankar Mishra, Nityanand Sahu, Rajib Patra and Muktikant Mandal supported to the Satpathy’s suggestion. However, Opposition members like BB Harichandan, Naba Kishore Das, Krishna Chandra Sagaria and Prafulla Majhi pooh-poohed the Government for boasting of the achievement stating that the latter has failed to provide water, seeds and fertilisers and in procuring produces at right prices. Farmers have been agitating to get sell their produces across the State.
They slammed the State Government for failing to be self sufficient in production of potato, onion, fish, egg and many other eatables, which are being imported from outside States.
