Kendrapada BJD MLA Sashi Bhusan Behera on Thursday faced the wrath of party dissidents in his constituency as eggs were hurled at his car at couple of places where he went to attend some functions. The eggs failed to hit the target.
In the first incident, when Behera had gone to Bagada GP to inaugurate a Mission Shakti building, a dissident BJD worker allegedly hurled a couple of eggs at his car near Kalapada Chowk. Police detained one Rajendra Pradhan in connection with the incident.
Another youth, Pratap Mallick, also pelted an egg at Behera while he was attending the annual athletic meet of the Indupur–based Birupa College. But the egg fell on the dais and didn’t hit him.
Bagada GP’s former Sarpanch Kailash Behera said locals played an important role in ensuring victory of Behera. But no tangible developmental has taken place in their area. They had warned the MLA not to come to Bagada to inaugurate the Mission Shakti building as he might face the anger of locals.
Intellectuals said that as the MLA and his son are neglecting the grassroots-level BJD workers, he was being opposed.
