BJD workers on Thursday gheraoed the Jeypore Sub-Divisional Police Office (SDPO) demanding arrest of local Congress MlA Tara Prasad Bahinipati in connection with the case of former MlA Ramesh Jena.
As Jena and his associates stayed in Bahinipati’s MlA quarter in Bhubaneswar, Jena had criminal links with Bahinipati, alleged the BJD.
Besides, Bahinipati is alleged to be involved in the attack on a country liquor distillery at Borigumma last week, for which he must be arrested, former Jeypore BJD MlA Rabi Narayan Nanda demanded.
“If Bahinipati is not arrested, we will observe a bandh and paralyse the administration,” he added.
On the other hand, the Congress took out a procession from the Congress Bhawan to the Jeypore Sub-Collector’s office protesting the police cases linking Bahinipati with Ramesh Jena.
