The results for the first phase of elections for the seven Zilla Parishad (ZP) seats have gone in favour of the BJD in Koraput district. The party’s local leaders and members were seen celebrating the victory on Tuesday.
local leader and party spokesperson Rabi Narayan Nanda said the results have given a new hope to the party. The constructive work and the different schemes of the BJD Government have led to the win.
He thanked all the voters and wished more positive results in the coming phase of the election.
On the other hand, the Congress camp was disappointed by the results as the party though having as many as five MlAs from the region and the election being fought under the leadership of local MlA and party Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati failed to win any ZP seat.
Still, Bahinpati said he is hopeful for the coming phases of the elections and is fully confident that the Congress will fare better.
Though the BJP has not won any ZP seat, it is happy as the partygave a tough fight to the BJD in the first phase.
