Body had injuries; left leg detached

The Government Railway Police (GRP), Rourkela on Thursday recovered the body of Bisra Tehsildar laxman Oram from a railway track near Birajapalli, two kilometre from here. There were multiple injuries on the body and the left leg was found detached.

After sending the body for postmortem, the police have started investigation into the matter. Sources said some locals of the Birajapalli area noticed that a human body was lying near the track, which appeared to have been run over by a train. They soon informed the GRP about it.

The GRP also recovered some papers from his pocket along with one identity card, which identified him as laxman Oram (53). He was posted as Tehsildar, Bisra in Sundargarh district.

Sources said Oram was staying along with his family at Jharsuguda and making up and down daily by train to the attend his duty. An office vehicle used to bring Oram from the station to the office and drops him at the station in the evening.

According to the driver of the vehicle, Oram came to catch the Rourkela-Koraput Express but could not catch it as it had already left before they reached the station. Oram waited for the next train and asked the driver to return.

Though it is not known which train Oram had boarded, police suspect that Oram might have boarded either the Bokaro-Allepy Express or the Tapaswini Express as two trains run on Jharsuguda, and might have met the accident at Birajapalli.  Oram’s money purse, few papers and his mobile phone were intact on his pocket. Sources said Oram is survived by his wife and two children. Senior administrative officials like Panposh Sub-Collector Prakash Behera and Rourkela Municipality Durga Prasad Mohapatra rushed to the spot after hearing the tragic news.
