A bison calf named Gouri died at the Nandankanan Zoological Park on the city outskirts on Monday morning.
Gouri, born on June 18 last year, was undergoing treatment for gastritis. The animal had also undergone an urinary bladder operation on June 28 after facing difficulties in urination.
After the operation, Gouri’s health condition was under supervision. However, the calf died at around 4.45 am on Monday. The reason behind its death can be ascertained after autopsy, zoo officials said.
Notably, a 21-year-old tigress Sushama also died at the zoo on Sunday. She was undergoing treatment for her old age-related complications.
