Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Kumar Dasburma on Saturday informed the Assembly that biometric systems would be installed in all Government fair price outlets by January 2017 for fair distribution of food items.
Dasburma said this in response to a question of BJD MlA Priyadarshi Mishra. He said the biometric system would be Aadhaar-based, and consumers would be given food items only after their finger tips match with the machine. To another question of the MlA, the Minister admitted that there are no adequate numbers of Market Intelligence staffs to check black-marketing during distribution of fair-priced food items in the State. As many 79 posts in the posts of Marketing Intelligence Supervisor, MI Statistical Assistant, MI Inspector, Senior DEO, Artist and Programmer are lying vacant against total sanctioned 96 posts.
All 12 MI Supervisor and three MI Statistical Assistant posts and 33 of 34 MI Inspectors posts are lying vacant. Similarly, lone sanctioned posts of Senior DEO, Artist and Programmer are lying vacant, the Minister informed.
