From the coming academic session, children studying in Classes-VI to X would be taught about the life history of former Chief Minister and legendary leader late Biju Patnaik.
Apart from Bijubabu, life histories of other freedom fighters such as Subhas Bose, Veer Surendra Sai and laxman Naik would also be part of the school curriculum from the 2017-18 academic session.
The new course syllabus would be brought out by the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT), sources said.
School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said focus in the syllabus chapter would be on Bijubabu for his contribution to the Quit India Movement.
Sources said starting from childhood of the former Chief Minister to academic career, contribution in freedom struggle, political ups and lows, aviation pilot career and contribution towards the State’s growth will be featured in the course syllabus.
Eminent children’s litterateur Dr Das Benhur has been assigned to prepare a history book on Bijubabu.
