The biggest liquefied natural gas (lNG) terminal in the country would be set up in Odisha at a cost of Rs1 lakh crore. This would create new employment opportunities and other activities for the youth of the State, said Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan here on Sunday.

Inaugurating an office of the ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Commission) here, Pradhan said gas reserves worth Rs10,000 crore have been explored in Odisha. With the opening of the new ONGC office, an opportunity has come for further exploration in the State.

Giving the example of Barmer in Rajasthan which produces about 12 million tonnes of oil, he hoped that the new exploration in Odisha would also get similar success and huge oil and gas reserves would be found under the supervision of the new office.

He also informed that the defunct Talcher fertiliser plant would be reopened soon. ONGC MD Dinesh Kumar Saraf also spoke on the occasion. Among others, ONGC Odisha head Sathe was present.
