Over a thousand students and guardians held a rally in Bangalore on Saturday demanding arrest of the two school staffs who had allegedly molested a minor girl from Odisha and stern action against the authorities of the school where the ghastly incident occurred a fortnight ago.

According to reports, two gym instructors of an elite English medium school in Bangalore molested the six-year-old student on July 2.

But the matter came to light after the girl narrated the incident to her family members on Tuesday. The victim is daughter of an Odia engineer working under the Karnataka Government.

Soon after the girl revealed the incident, parents and guardians rushed to the school and ransacked its office properties.

Earlier, the issue had also triggered uproar in the Karnataka Assembly with the members, cutting across party lines, demanding stern action against the accused and the school authorities.

Expressing grave concern over the issue, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani has sought a report from the Karnataka Government. Besides, the State Government has requested the ICSE authorities to withdraw the affiliation to the school.

“The Centre should formulate a uniform protocol for all schools in the country to ensure safety of children,” an irate guardian told mediapersons.
