Bid on to restore road, rail traffic in Koraput

PNS

With flood water receding in many parts in Koraput district, efforts are on to restore road and rail communication.

The people of the flood affected areas sheltered at safer places are being provided with cooked food and relief. Emergency medical teams have been pressed into service to look after the sick and ailing ones.

It may be noted that the rains of Sunday and Monday had caused havoc in the district with several places facing the worst. As many as 14 Gram Panchayats of Borigumma block are still lying marooned.

To normalise railway service, ECoR technicians are working day in and day out on the track. The Jeypore-Koraput route was damaged badly due to landslides at several places. Victor Josheph, Senior DEN- Head of Engineering Division, Waltier, said it would take 3-4 days to restore service on the track.
