With the death of yet another worker, the death toll in the Dhenkanal-based Bhushan Steel limited (BSl) blast furnace explosion mounted to three. Durga Hansda, a native of Mayurbhanj district, succumbed to the blast related injuries while undergoing treatment in a private hospital here on Friday morning.
Doctors treating Hansda said the condition of the patient deteriorated on Thursday despite the best possible treatment given to him. “He was shifted to ICU on Thursday evening, but he succumbed to injuries at 7.15 am on Saturday,” said a source of the hospital. It may be mentioned that another worker had died in the same hospital on November 20 while the November 13 blast had caused one death on the spot leaving 19 others injured.
