Two officials of the Energy Department were suspended on Tuesday in connection with the tragic bus mishap at Bhuban in Dhenkanal district on September 20 in which six persons were electrocuted and 25 others injured.
The suspended officials are Sub-Divisional Officer Ullas Chandra Nath and Junior Engineer Hrushikesh Das, informed the Cesu Executive Engineer.
However, opposing the dismissal, the Odisha State Electricity Corporation Engineers’ Association (OSECEA) has threatened of a noncooperation movement from October 1 if the suspension is not revoked.
Notably, the bus tragedy had occurred when the vehicle came in contact with a low-lying 11-KV electric wire at Sishu Mandir Chhak in Bhuban.
Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das had asked the Chief Engineer of the department to probe into the matter and ascertain the circumstances under which the accident took place. The Minister had said that action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
