A 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh was observed by the District Congress Committee in Bhadrak town on Thursday demanding establishment of a medical college here and improvement in healthcare services.
While shops and business establishments remained closed, vehicular movement was disrupted as Congress leaders and workers staged road blockade at various places in the town. They also blocked NH-16 here, as a result of which hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road. Several local organisations and associations also extended support to the bandh. Police were deployed across the town to avoid any untoward incident. The Congress warned of intensifying the agitation in future in the case of non-fulfillment of the demand.
