The World Clay Day-2018 was celebrated for the ninth consecutive year here at Bhadrak.

On the occasion, hundreds of volunteers joined smearing mud in their whole body. Some put mud on their forehead as a symbol of respect for the sanctity of soil, water and air.

The day was held under the leadership of noted environmentalist and rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy. “Combination of soil, water and air constitutes clay.

If we can keep the purity of these three ingredients of the nature, then it will pave the way towards environment protection,” said Tripathy.

The use of clay as a healer in naturopathy was also emphasized during the awareness campaign.  Among others,  Bhadrak Book Fair organizing secretary Akshyaya Barik, human rights scholar Sitakanta Tripathy, tribal leader Nandia Munda, Bela Munda, Pares Das, Dhrmendra Tripathy, Philips Bedi and Satyajit Panda took part.
