Angry villagers on Tuesday detained two Government officials who had gone to Kenpalli village in Bargarh district for a fresh probe in the suicide of Hadu Bagarti reportedly due to crop loss.
The villagers detained Deputy Director of Agriculture and Director of Horticulture of Bargarh district and forced them to give a report of the fresh probe.
After the officials produced the copy of their report to be sent to the Government, the villagers released them. The villagers were angry over the manner the Government has been handling the suicide case.
Worth mentioning, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy has ordered a fresh probe of the suicide after Bagarti’s wife rubbished his statement that Hadu committed suicide due to quarrel with her.
