Bhubaneswar: Two days after it slammed the BJD Government for police crackdown on the villagers seeking shift of a proposed river bridge site at Belbahali in Keonjhar district, the BJP has moved the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) seeking its intervention for release of seven arrested women having their infants at home.
A delegation led by senior party leader and former Minister Surama Padhi submitted a memorandum to the OHRC and alleged that more than ten of the women arrested have infants. “While the arrested women have been languishing in jails their infants are in village. There is also shortage of space in jail to accommodate them. It was also noticed that gent police officials have arrested women violating their human rights,” the memorandum maintained.
