FIR lodged at Narasighpur
A case of a very big amount of monetary fraud came to the fore here in Cuttack district on Wednesday as some students lodged a complaint at the Narasighpur police station alleging that one Abhijit BEd institute duped them of lakhs of rupees on the promise of giving them BEd education in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the complaint, the institute, opening an office at the local college, promised students to give them BEd education under the Andhra Pradesh Government and took Rs 50, 000 to Rs 70,000 from each student who opted for the course. The institute has also taken their HSC, +2 and +3 certificates for the admission purposes.
The students came to know that they have been cheated only on August 18 when they found their names were not listed at an examination centre in AP and returned home without appearing the examination. They didn’t even find Abhijit BEd’s owner there.
It is learnt that students belonging to Phulbani, Khordha, Banki, Kantilo, Gania, Baideswar, Dhenkanal and Narasinghpur have been duped. Though police have started investigation into the matter, the owner of the fake institute was yet to be arrested.
