like Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram’s review meeting, the first Sambalpur Zilla Parishad meeting of the current year was cancelled as BDOs and other line officers didn’t turn up.
All elected members irrespective of their party affiliation protested the officer’s absence. The concerned officers had been intimated about the meeting well before the scheduled time.
“Out of total nine BDOs, six didn’t come. How can development issues in their areas be discussedIJ We had to request the DRDA PD to cancel the meeting,” ZP members said while expressing concern that many developmental issues could not be discussed.

The meeting was scheduled to discuss horticulture, Mid-Day Meal, sanitation, watershed management, kharif crop, pipe water supply, State livelihood Mission and MNREGS issues. The BDOs of Naktideul, Redhakhole and Jamankira had attended the meet. A review meeting called by Minister Oram earlier had also witnessed a similar situation.
