BDA to develop 4 multilevel car parkings

PNS

To resolve parking problems, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) would construct four new multilevel car parkings (MlCPs) at different locations in the city.

A detailed plan has been made by the BDA in this regard. The locations are at Janata Maidan (1 acre), Kharvela Nagar behind Ram Mandir (1.5 acres), Kalpana Square (0.984 acre) and Nayapalli behind Jupiter Science College near Indradhanu Market (1.116 acres).

The BDA has already submitted a proposal to the General Administration Department for alienation of the land in favour of the Housing and Urban Development Department so that the development authority could go ahead in executing the project.

It may be noted that considering proposals on the parking related matters on major roads in the city, work of two MlCPs are already in progress at Saheed Nagar and Unit II (Rajmahal) respectively under the Bhubaneswar Smart City limited (BSCl).

The proposed four MlCPs would have double basement, upper and lower basement, and ground floor parking as well. likewise the first, second and third floors would also have parking for vehicles.

There would be fourth, fifth and sixth floors over the MlCPs and they would be used for commercial purpose.

The BDA’s request for proposal (RFP) involving the four new MlCPs will adopt the model similar to BSCl’s two ongoing MlCPs.

The four proposed MlCPs will have 450 ECS (equivalent car space) per acre of space, so they will have different number of ECS as per the available size of the land.

The four MlCPs will be uniquely designed with beautiful facades, energy efficient structures and environment friendly buildings. All will be developed through the engineering procurement and construction (EPC) mode.

The EPC contractor would be responsible for all the activities from design, procurement, construction, to commissioning and handover of the project to the end-user or owner.

However, the EPC contractor’s design and other construction activities have to be okayed by a high-level committee of the BDA.
