n The Salbani Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir (SSVM) at Rangamatia of Samakhunta Block in the district of Mayurbhanj recently organised a Grandparents’ Get-together. The programme attracted a good number of grandparents of students and local intellectuals as well.
While scribe Chitta Ranjan Mohanta was the chief guest on the occasion, social activist Gatikrushna Triwar was the guest of honour. Sunamani Singh, Daktar Singh and Salbani SSVM secretary Jatindra Mohanta, among others, also addressed the grandparents. While Geetanjali Mohanta, the SSVM Principal, introduced the guests at the outset, Laxmimani Singh, the MC vice-president, offered the vote of thanks in the end.
The speakers as well as the grandparents, present at the get-together, agreed on the need to instil a spirit of service and sacrifice in the young minds. They also felt the importance of inculcating in the children a deep and abiding love for Indian culture and heritage. It was the first-ever grandparents’ gathering in the area, it is learnt.
