The Government has been spending crores of rupees for the Mamata Yojana to ensure safe motherhood, but in Gaisilet Block here, the scheme has failed to reach its target.
According to the sources, Sashmita Sahu at Talpali under Gaisilet Block had registered her name and opened a pass book in the SBI during the time of her pregnancy. On April 28 last, she gave birth to a girl child. But she did not get a single paisa till date.
Numerous allegations levelled against health department officials and the CDPO yielded little result. Notably, under the scheme, the pregnant women get Rs 5,000 during the sixth month of their
pregnancy. The Debadatta Club of Gaisilet alleged that the Government scheme has failed here due to the negligence of duties and corruption by the officials. The locals demanded that the administration should investigate the issue and take action against the culprits.
