Over 3,000 farmers of Krusak Vikash Manch (KVM) Padampur Sub-Divison staged demonstration on Wednesday in front of the Bargarh District Collectorate pressing for their 5-point charter of demands.
They were led by KVM Padampur president Jayakrushna Sahu and secretary Kishor Chandra Debta. They submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik though the Bargarh district Collector and demanded immediate action.
Their demands included declaration of drought affected areas with compensation, release of insurance payment for Kharif season of 2016, adoption of Swaminathan Commission report and loan waiver.
