The Sevashram schools run by the State SC and ST Development Department at Talaborei, Niladriprasad, Sali Dam Colony in Banpur block are in worst conditions. The children are exploited by teachers and deprived of their basic dues. Many students in the schools drop out midway. Most of the teachers skip duty most often in the schools and are alleged to be doing their private business on forest produce. They are also allegedto be having link with timber and wine smugglers. The locals have demanded a fair probe into the irregularities.
District Welfare Officer Parikhita Dash and a NGO representative of Khordha had visited one of these schools recently. The authority of the school allegedly arranged fake children to show the strength of students.
