The CBI, which is investigating into the mega chit fund scam in the State, was on Sunday reportedly interrogated a Cuttack Zila Parishad member of the Banki area, who is a strong supporter of arrested Banki BJD MlA Pravat Tripathy, here at its headquarters.
Sources said the officials of investigating team quizzed Patel for around two hours in the afternoon. When asked about the reason of his appearance at the CBI office, Patel, however, said the CBI sleuths had rung him to bring homemade food and medicine for Tripathy.
“Nobody asked me anything about chit fund matter. A phone call was made to us from the CBI office asking us to bring food and medicine for him (Tripahty). So I came to the office here for this purpose only,” stated Patel. On Friday and Saturday also, homemade food and medicine had been served to Tripathy at the CBI office as he is suffering from hip pain after he met with a road accident recently. Tripathy is now on a 14-day CBI remand ending on Nov 14.
