Ban on internet services in Kendrapada lifted

PNS

The Kendrapada administration on Friday lifted the ban on internet services with the situation returning fast to normal in the communally-sensitive district.

The administration had on Thursday announced that it would decide on the issue after reviewing the situation. Central Range IG Soumendra Priyadarshi had reviewed the law and order situation and also spoke to the leaders of both the communities.

District Collector Muralidhar Mallick had also held a peace committee meeting to defuse the tense situation.

Notably, after the posting on a objectionable video on a social media platform the situation had turned volatile. Police forces were deployed and internet services were promptly banned by the Home Department, to prevent a Bhadrak type of unrest.

The District Collector had informed that action would be taken against the guilty after information about the posting and sharing is obtained from the social media platform’s headquarters in Carlifonia in USA.
