Setting an example by going beyond the call of his duty, Baleswar Superintendent of Police (SP) Jugal Kishor Kumar Banoth on Monday helped a man and his daughter reach a hospital after the duo sustained critical injuries in a road accident.
Banoth was heading towards Oupada by an SUV for a public hearing when he spotted the victims, identified as Kailash Chandra Sahu and his daughter of Achyutipur village under the Soro police station, in critical conditions on NH-16 near Begunia in Baleswar district. The duo was seriously injured when an unidentified vehicle had hit them and fled from the spot.
The police official took them to the Soro Community Health Centre in his vehicle and facilitated their treatment at the hospital. His Good Samaritan act has earned praise from the locals.
