Although late, yet the district police administration, as a preliminary step against the chit fund companies, initiated raids on May 10 after forming different squads.
The raids on different branches of prominent companies began since Friday morning across the district, which included Soro, Jaleswar, Basta, Bhograi and Baleswar headquarters town.
The teams seized computers and documents of the companies. They took the branch heads along with them for interrogation in order to ascertain their companies’ back grounds, local operations, schemes, investments and other activities, etc.
The action was initiated when the Crime Branch’s EOW is probing the financial fraud case of Saradha Realty and Artha Tatwa Group.
“The raids were conducted under the direction of the district Superintendent of Police. Currently, we are concentrating on the prominent players in the field. We prepared a list of such companies before carrying out the raids. This was necessary as complaints were pouring in against these companies, especially after the fall of Sardha and AT Groups,” informed DSP (crime) Nagendra Nayak, adding the next course of action about the seized articles and materials would be decided after their verification.
In the town area, including Sahadevkhunta, the raids were conducted at 14 branches. Town police station IIC UC Garnaik and Sahadevkhunta police station IIC Manoj Rout headed the teams.
