Civil society body Sewa hi Sewa, which has been doing philanthropic and social works, dedicated a hearse van named ‘Swargarath’, on Saturday to ferry dead bodies. It unveiled the vehicle at a Gurudwara near Remuna Golai.
Besides, a deep freezer to preserve dead bodies was also dedicated. Remuna MlA Gobinda Das and Baleswar Municipality Chairman Alok Das attended the function.
Sewa hi Sewa president Amar Singh Walia has been working for the cause of poor, downtrodden and common men since years with several philanthropic works being done time to time.
The hearse would be available to all against a nominal charge. The bodies would be ferried to the cremation ground with dignity. The vehicle would be utilised in the local urban area. Subsequently, more vehicles would be procured and deployed for rural areas to ferry bodies to the Puri Swargadwar, said Walia.
“The fridge for preserving dead bodies, would, however, be available free of cost,” he said. Sewa hi Sewa secretary Ranjan Sahu and other members including the Gurudwara management committee, were present.
