Bakul's rose plant gift drive in city on V Day

PNS

The Bakul Foundation will again promote the gifting of plants and rose plants for the Valentine’s Day. It will open counters for sale of packaged plants at three places, the Bakul library in Satyanagar, near Forum Mall (Big Bazaar) in Satyanagar and at BMC Bhawani Mall.

Young volunteers of Bakul, who have been enthused with this project, are reaching out to people at these places and motivating them to gift plants.

“This is a gift that grows. like this plant we wish our relationship will also grow,” said Madhumoy, a buyer who got a red rose plant in a basket for his valentine.

This gift a plant is an initiative under the My Tree Campaign of Bakul, which aims to create an emotional connect between individuals and trees by promoting individual ownership of trees. The main objective of the My Tree Campaign is to promote gifting and plantation of trees as a cultural practice where it becomes a part of the everyday lives of people.

Pooja Mishra of Bakul added, “Many people love to get this very different, beautiful and thoughtful gift and seeing this many others have got inspired also.”

The campaign has received international recognition and was featured in an exhibition last year in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, widely considered the Mecca for contemporary art and architecture.

The curators of the exhibition interestingly identified the campaign as one of the very creative and impactful endeavours to address environmental challenges in urban areas in the world.
