Exercising his powers to declare local holiday for one day in the districts under his jurisdiction, Central Division RDC Dr Arabinda Padhee on Wednesday issued a circular to declare local holiday on Saturday in the districts of Cuttack, Puri, Kendrapada and Baleswar and Khurda sub-division on the occasion of Bada Osha. Bada Osha, observed on the penultimate day of the holy month of Kartika, is an important Hindu ritual in these parts of the State.
While Bada Osha was earlier declared as a local holiday in Cuttack district and Khurda sub-division, the RDC extended this holiday to Puri, Kendrapada and Baleswar districts following requests from the concerned Collectors.
