More than Rs 30 crore has been disbursed for the farmers in Paikmal Block for crop insurance compensation by the Central Government on Monday.
In this regard, former MLA Padampur and BJP Krushak Morcha president Pradeep Purohit was felicitated by the farmers of Badikata, Lakhmara and Bhengrajpur Gram Panchayats for his role in the disbrusal of the payments.
According the sources, the farmers were taken for a ride by the crop insurance company in disbursing their compensation but a delegation of farmers comprising Maitri Pradhan, Bimal Sahu and Bajuban Nayak led by former MLA Purohit had met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi on November 9 and appealed him for disbrusal of crop insurance money soon. After getting their crop insurance money, the farmers organised a welcome ceremony at Badikata village for felicitating former MLA Purohit.
Zilla Parisad Bargarh president Mukta Sah, BJP Youth local president Pritesh Bahidar, ZP member Babita Pradhan, Bhismadev Sahu, Kailas Dishri and Maitri Pradhan among others were present.
