To generate awareness among villagers of Phuljharn, the cultural troupe of Saan Bada presented its songs and music on Thursday on the causes of forest fire and its prevention and appealed to people to cooperate with the Forest Department in tackling forest fire.
Organised by the Balangir Forest Range, the programme was attended by villagers, Forest Guards and other stakeholders.
‘The Pioneer’ Correspondent of Balangir Sudhir Kumar Mishra explained the factors responsible for forest fire and how it can be prevented. Besides human beings, it is the wildlife population which suffers due to forest fire.
“It’s our duty to protect the habitats of wild animals. It is also in the interest of human beings as forest is a major source of collecting edible leaves and fruits, medicinal herbs and wood. Besides, the much-needed oxygen emanates from forest,” said Mishra.
